Understand the capability
New processes and systems need people who can use and sustain them. Consider the responsibilities involved, the skills required and the organisation’s existing strengths. Staffing and training decisions should follow the work rather than sit apart from it.
Plan the support
Identify where teams need additional capacity, different experience or a clearer way of working. Align role requirements with the organisational objective and consider how knowledge will be shared as responsibilities change.
Make change practical
Training works best when it is connected to the tasks people need to perform. Give teams a clear explanation of what is changing, relevant learning opportunities and a route for questions. Capability grows through practice as well as instruction.
